Three Arrested Over Fraud In Edo

Police Operatives from the Zone 5 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police, Benin City, have arrested three persons for allegedly indulging in advance fee fraud, otherwise known as 419.

Those arrested for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting members of the public millions of Naira under the guise of offering them employment in the oil and gas industry, according to the police, are Messers Ehikhamenor Lewis, 32, Stephen Eefgom, 32, and Abdul Qadri Ibrahim, 33.

A statement on Tuesday in Benin, signed by Mr. Emeka Iheanacho, Zonal  Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin, said that the arrest was effected based on a credible information received by the police on their activities.

He disclosed that the suspects, in collaboration with others now at large, placed an employment advertisement sometime in August, 2014, on the social media which attracted about 1,122 applicants from Edo, Delta, Lagos, and Kano states.

The suspects who, he said, confessed to the crime during interrogation by the police, stated that they operated with the company name, Jocom Lean Concept Limited to defraud their victims.
