Tochukwu, Ajanaku Set For Finals Of SNEPCo Junior Tennis Championships
Eze Tochukwu, 16, from Anambra defeated Godsgift Timibre, 17, from Rivers 9-4, to qualify for the final of the U-18 Boy’s event at the ongoing SNEPCo Junior Tennis Championships.
Tochukwu spoke after the match on Friday at that he was ready for the final on Saturday.
“I came all the way from Anambra State to Lagos to come and take the trophy home.
“I am very happy getting to the finals; it is God’s grace added to my effort that brought me to this stage.
“I hope to win the title because I have not won the U-18 before.
“My opponent was also consistent but he did not discover my weak point. The game took a while because we were both cautious,” he said.
Both players displayed good rallies throughout the duration of the game.
Tochukwu used the advantage of his good service and drop shots close to the baseline to defeat his opponent.
Timibre, on the other hand, said he was not willing to say anything about the loss.
In the U-12 Boy’s category, Abdullahi Ajanaku from Ekiti, defeated Aliyu Abubakar from Kaduna, 9-4 to proceed to the final stage.
Kasara Adegboyega from Lagos State was defeated by Favour Moses from Kaduna in the U-14 Girl’s category.
The finals will be played today Saturday (Oct. 17) at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club.
