The Akwa Ibom Professional Youths Council has pledged its support to the management and staff of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, (MAN), Oron, saying the institution is rightly on course under the leadership of Dr. (Engr) Anthony Ishiodu.
The group also described as false the fraud allegation leveled against the academy’s Bursar, Mr. Folorunsho Kayode.
According to the president of the group, Barrister Ita Umiom, the Acting Rector, Dr. Ishiodu and the Bursar, Mr. Kayode, have been part of the system for long as such they both have shown competence, commitment and honesty in handling the affairs of the institution in the past years.
Umiom said that since assumption of duty as the Acting Rector of the Academy, Ishiodu had been carrying out reforms and building synergy among management and staff of the school, to reposition the institution as one of the best in the world. He wonders why some unpatriotic Nigerians are putting up baseless attack on the school’s management.
On the alleged fraud of N4.5million leveled against the school’s Bursar, Mr. Kayode Folorunsho, the group said, the Bursar is a tested and trusted Accountant who had spent close to a decade in the academy as a management staff without any wrongdoing.
They described Kayode as being of impeccable character with integrity and transparency in handling the finances of the academy over the years, which has earned him many awards within and outside Nigeria.
On the alleged infighting among the academy’s management team, the group assured that there is neither infighting nor acrimony among the staff, managements and cadets of the school, as such, the general public should disregard the various baseless mischiefs by enemies of the school who are bent on painting a bad picture of the institution due to their selfish interests.
