President, Africa Bar association (AFBA) Barr. Hanniba Uwaifo said the Association will not hesitate to opt for court action against President Yahya Jammeh of Gambia moment the declaration of Islamic state in the country violates the right of lawyers and judges in the discharge of their constitutional role in that Country
Uwaifo however noted that although the country was at liberty to choose the kind of religion its wishes,but the action of the President is a dangerous precedent capable of throwing the entire Nation into a state of anarchy
Uwaifo made the declaration when he led the executive members of the association on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, University of Benin,Professor Faraday Orumwense.
He said the association was at the verge of giving consideration to hold its conference either in Nigeria or Zimbabwe earlier scheduled for Gambia in the face of the current insecurity challenges
He lauded the giant stride records of achievement of the vice chancellor professor Faraday Orumwense within a short time in office and urged the management and students to accord the VC maximum support and cooperation
He specifically made mentioned of the commissioning of the health centre Academic, Academic industrial exchange program with Lancaster university , accreditation of new courses and singing of MoU for the Azura power projects amongst others. End
