Governor Willie Obiano has received a delegation of the executive members of the Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers in Anambra State.
The Governor hosted the traditional rulers on Thursday at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia in Nigeria’s southeast region.
The monarchs, led by the Chairman of the council, Eze Dick Eberechukwu, assured Governor Obiano that multiple representation in issues concerning the Igbos would soon be a thing of the past with proper consultation and synergy with other Igbo socio-cultural groups.
The council members, who were in Anambra State for their inaugural meeting, also said that they would pursue the collective interest of the Igbos and ensure that what rightly belongs to them gets to them.
In his response, Governor Obiano urged the traditional rulers to enhance the promotion of Igbo language, culture and tradition as well as ensure that the qualities Igbos are known for were not lost.
The Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers has unanimously elected Eze Dick Eberechukwu as their leader for two years.
