LP Condemns APC’s ‘Change’ Mantra For Killing Opposition

The Labour Party (LP) has accused the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) of killing the opposition with its ‘Change’ mantra.

It said that the ‘Change’ mantra by All Progressive Congress (APC) was aimed towards killing opposition which has place Nigeria under siege.

According to the statement, “APC’s “Change” has only been successful in the furtherance of the siege mentality which has made Nigerians feel oppressed, isolated, manipulated, disoriented, dejected, and disjointed by the negative maneuvering of the ruling party.

The statement added that “the APC government despite purposeful intervention by well meaning Nigerians, Labour Party, civil societies, the NBA, has created a corridor of consistent flouting of the ethics of good governance, participatory democracy along sacred laws of the land in pursuit of perceived and contrived idealism, thereby making effective opposition low and multilateral thinking deficient”.

The party in the statement therefore enjoined President Buhari to forsake an act of fundamentalism and rather embrace political and economic liberalism to lessen his fighting of war from several sides of the battle field.

The party added that even the President’s financiers don’t enjoy his government, a reason they are using their cohorts to throw stones and mud at him from all divides in order to make him cause more harms to people.

As a way to salvage the country from present political and economic situation, Labour Party however advised the president to immediately organize a socio-economic Summit that will allow the participation of all and sundry to engender a sustaining democracy.
