Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Arms

Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber operating with motorbike in Asaba, capital of Delta State.

Nemesis cached up with him when operatives at ‘B’ Division received information that four men armed gang operating on motorbike were robbing people along Osadenis road Asaba at gun point.

They were said to have mobilized to the scene and arrested one Osita Kalu, 20yrs who had been beaten thoroughly by irate mob while three others escaped.

One motorcycle with Registration Number AKL 477 WU used by the suspects was set ablaze.

When searched a cut-to-size English made double barrel gun belonging to same gang was recovered.

In a similar development, patrol team responding to distress call attached to Udaka road received a call from one good Nigerian in Ndokwa East LGA that after being robbed, he found one Osati Usaboto, 24yrs in the pool of his own blood with gunshot wound on his lower limb.

Sequel to the information, the blood was trailed to a nearby uncompleted building where the suspect was found and the complainant identified the injured man as his assailant who robbed him of his blackberry phone and passport at gun point.

Confirming the developments, DSP Celestina Kalu, said when searched, two live cartridges, two cut to size locally made guns stained with blood were found in his possession.

While the first suspect, Kalu, later gave up the ghost at the central hospital Kwale, Usaboto is assisting the police intheir investigations while efforts to apprehend the other fleeing members of the syndicate have been intensified.
