…Assures Safety of Electoral Personnels

Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Alhaji Nasiru Ayilara has hinted of the readiness of the commission to conduct free, fair poll into the vacant State Constituency of Ife Central Seat in the State House of Assembly.
Ayilara who gave disclosure yesterday in Osogbo during a press briefing addressed also assured all the 817 personnels of the commission who are expected to participate in the Saturday Ife-Central House of Assembly Bye-Election of adequate security.
The Ife-Central House of Assembly State Constituency seat became vacant following the demised of Hon.Oladejo Makinde on 27th December,2016.
He said due to the political nature of the local government area,the commission has fashioned out to security measures that would guarantee the safety of both INEC officials and the electorates.
According to him,” we had met up with all the security agencies in the state and they have assured the commission of safety of both electoral officials and the voters”.
Ayilara disclosed that the total number of registered voters is 95,232, adding that 62,393 voters have collected their Permanent Voter Card[ PVC].
He stated further that 168 polling units are in Ife Central, 11 registration points and election materials were already available to carry out the exercise successfully.
Ayilara who explained that there would be restriction of movement between the hours of 8:00am and 4:00pm,promised people of Osun and Nigeria at large free, fair and credible election.
