Robbers Kill 50 Years Old Bus Driver in Effurun

Armed robbers in their numbers on Tuesday afternoon killed a man who is about 50 years old, identified as Mr. Osifo Awusa along the ever busy Effurun/Sapele road at Okoloba Junction, Opposite Hotel De Mark, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta state.

An eye witness told Independent Newspaper that the late Mr. Osifo Awusa was a driver who plies Effurun to NPA, adding that on the faithful day, Late Mr. Awusa carried a customer who went to withdrew huge amount of money in one of the new generation banks along the Effurun/Sapele road.

The eye witness who don’t want his name on print explained further that the woman carrying huge amount of money boarded late Osifo Awusa’s bus, only to see some group of boys in a small car trying to stop him but he thought they were Agberos who wanted to collect money from him.

Irked by the decision of the late Mr. Awusa not to stop, one of the armed robbers shot him on the chest, all passengers, including the woman with huge amount of money, scampered for safety, while the armed robbers turn back, shooting sporadically before they eventually escaped.

Mr. Awusa was later rushed to a nearby hospital by some good Samaritans but later gave up the ghost before police report which the doctor requested for could be processed at the Enerhen Police Station. The remains of late Mr. Osifo Awusa had been deposited at a mortuary in Udu.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, CSP Celestina Kalu on her mobile phone prove abortive as at the time of filling this report but a senior police officer at the Enerhen Police Station who don’t want his name on print confirmed the story, saying the police was making frantic effort to apprehend the culprits.
