FUNAAB Robbery Cases: Ogun CP Deploys Teams In Affected Communities

The attention of CP Abdulmajid Ali, the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, has been drawn to the incessant robbery cases at major students’ communities adjoining the Federal University of Agriculture, Alabata, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Commissioner of Police who was duly informed of the robbery cases that have been affecting the students and dwellers of these communities by a letter sent to his office by the authority of FUNAAB and complaint a received from the Students Union Leaders of the school, has taken drastic measures to tackle the problem.

CP Ali has ordered ACP Presley Dode, the Area commander Abeokuta Metropolis, to personally lead teams of police operatives to the affected communities to monitor, access and deploy the police operatives including men from the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Anti Robbery Teams of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, State Intelligence Bureau, Odeda and Obantoko Divisions, to embark on constant raid and patrol of the areas.

The Police boss has also directed DCP Shina Olukolu, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge Department of Criminal Investiagtion and Intelligence of the Command, to unravel the incessant robbery cases recorded and bring the perpetrators to book with immediate effect.

The affected communities out of twenty-nine (29) communities in the area are Oluwo-Kesi, Harmony, Ife-Olu and Ilupeju, all are densely populated by students of the along Alabata Road, Abeokuta in Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

The CP has also directed DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, to immediately liaise with the Students Union Leaders in the school and other students communities in Ogun State through the Police/Students Forum, created by the police command, to deliberate on possible way forward and strategies to be adopted to forestall such incidences in students areas.

The CP therefore assured students and dwellers in the affected communities and other communities in the state of adequate security of lives and property with more attention on the students.

He promised to set out anti-crime mechanisms that would stimulate effective policing of the areas.
