FCT Council Polls: APGA, PDP Candidates Commend INEC, Security Agencies

Some of the contestants in the Saturday council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have commended Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for peaceful conduct of the exercise.

In separate interviews, they told correspondent in Kuje that the peace that characterised the election engendered impressive turnout of voters.

Mr Haruna Yerima, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) chairmanship candidate, attributed the success recorded in the exercise to the quality of training given to ad hoc staff engaged by INEC.

Yerima said that some card readers malfunctioned in a few polling units but were immediately addressed with the incidents form.

“I am very happy with the conduct of the election because INEC has again proved that it is capable of conducting election in Nigeria.

“I think the successes recorded can be attributed to the quality of training given to INEC ad hoc staff and I encourage them to consolidate on that,” he said.

Danjuma attributed the high turnout of voter recorded during the election to the electorate’s desire to vote in candidate that could deliver dividends of democracy

He advised party agents and collation officers to be vigilant and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during the collation of results.
