For allegedly forcefully having canal knowledge of a minor, operatives of the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ogun State Police Command have commenced grilling of a 20 year-old man, Wahab Abdul-Aziz.
The order to transfer Abdul-Aziz, from Isheri Olofin Divisional Headquarters of Ogun State Police Command, where the offence was allegedly committed to State CID for thorough investigation came from the Commissioner of Police of the State, Alhaji Abdulmajid Ali.
Luck was said to have ran out on the suspect after he was caught for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl(Name and address withheld).
The incident occurred at Sparklight Estate, Isheri Olofin, in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun state.
Abdul-Aziz was first arrested and detained by operatives attached to Ojodu Abiodun Police Station, Ogun State.
It was alleged that he forcefully had carnal knowledge of the 10-year-old girl at an abandoned building within the Sparklight Estate, on Monday April 4, 2016 at 1:00pm.
It was learnt, that the girl, who was sent on errand by her mother when the suspect lured her into the abandoned building where he forcefully defiled her.
It was gathered, that the mother of the girl later saw her daughter crying and in pains, and when asked what had happened to her, she confided in her mother that she was rapped.
Her mother thus reported the incident to the police and the suspect arrested.
Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Ogun State Police Cimmand Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident.
He said the Commissioner of Police of the State, Alhaji Abdulmajid Ali, directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in-charge of Ojodu Abiodun to transfer the case to the operatives of the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence (DCII), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further and discreet investigation as well as prosecution of the suspect.
He further stated that the Commissioner of Police had also advised residents of Ogun State to always encourage owners of abandoned or isolated structures to be on the watch of such project, keep them clean so that criminals and hoodlums do not take advantage such places to carry out nefarious activities.
He said the Police Boss further advised members of the general public to cooperate with the police in the fight against crimes and social vices, like of this barbaric and inhuman acts, which he noted, must be totally eradicated, and to report such to the police, not minding any social stigma.
