The Nigerian Army has commenced company field training exercise at the Ekenwan Barracks in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Commander of 4 Brigade Headquarters of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Farouk Yahaya, disclosed this to journalists on Thursday.
Stressing the importance of the exercise, he said that it was in line with the directives of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.
He maintained that the force has a mandate to give necessary support to other relevant security agencies in maintaining law and order.
General Yahaya also explained that the training, which centered on cordon and search drills, would help in the fight against prevalent crimes such as kidnapping and cultism in Nigeria’s southern region.
