Two Years After, Police Arrests Killers Of Abuja Lady, Charity Chidebere Aiyedogbon

Two years after she was declared missing, operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of the Nigeria Police Command have arrested the abductors and killers of 44-year-old Mrs. Charity Chidebere Aiyedogbon.

At a media briefing on Thursday, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sadiq Bello, said that the operatives attached to the Anti-kidnapping Squad of the command, arrested the principal suspect – 27-year-old Paul Chukwujekwu Ezengo in Benin, Edo State.

The key suspect, he said, was arrested on June 1, 2018.

Bello said: “Upon his arrest, the principal suspect who has been at large since the lady’s disappearance, confessed during interrogation that the mother of four was his girlfriend and that he conspired with one Emmanuel Adogah to murder her on May 9, 2018 at about 2330hrs at Kagini area of the FCT.

“According to Ezengo, he gave the deceased excess alcohol before he moved her from Yaoundé Street to Kagini area where she was butchered and her mutilated body packaged in two sacks that were later dumped by the river bank at Ushafa in Bwari Area Council.

“He further confessed that he killed her because he wanted to take possession of her Acura ZDS Jeep and other properties. The deceased’s car and some of her properties have been recovered from him,” the CP said.

Bello further noted that the suspect, who, according to him, is a habitual criminal equally confessed to have participated in the commission of the heinous crime.

Meanwhile, the CP has advised FCT residents to go about their Sallah celebration without any fear of molestation, revealing that adequate measures had been taken to protect both places of worship and residences during the event.

He, however, warned, “criminals and disgruntled elements in whatever form or name not to do anything that will cause a breach of the peace because the Police and other security agencies have taken adequate measures to deal with such individuals or groups in order to guarantee absolute peace and security in the nation’s capital.”
