3,500 Candidates Sit For Ascon Exam In Ogun
No fewer than 3,500 candidates sat for the first phase of the 2016 Public Service entry examination conducted by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) and other professional cadre examination in Ogun State Civil Service.
Speaking during the exercise held at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Dr. (Mrs) Susan Aderonke Folarin explained that the entrance examination provided an opportunity for those joining the service and others that are qualified for promotion.
She maintained that the exercise was also meant to screen the candidates so as to get the best out of them, adding that series of interview would be held in due course.
According to her, ‘’the significance of this written examination is to select the best among the candidates into the Civil Service’’.
She added that the categories of candidates that wrote the examination cut across the different cadres which include; information, administrative, engineering, education and agriculture officers among others.
Mrs. Cecilia Gaya, the ASCON team leader, commended the State Government for providing enabling environment for the conduct of the examination, saying that the examination would give room for the Government to get the best by allowing the candidates to defend their qualification and certificate.
Two of the participants, Miss Babatunde Enitan and Mr Sunday Obasade, who spoke on the conduct of the examination said the environment was conducive while the questions were up to standard, adding that it would give them the opportunity to exhibit the competency in them.
